Job Context

  • The Finance Assistant at JRRP, Cox’s Bazar will be responsible for providing a variety of finance operations, treasury section-related tasks and functions, ensuring accurate and timely processing of Finance transactions that is in compliance with FH and donor financial rules, and regulations. This position also supports the finance team by ensuring day-to-day financial records.

Job Description / Responsibility

  • Carry out day-to-day accounting and financial activities of the project.
  • Check and review the accuracy of invoices and payment vouchers, and ensure that all the requests are in line with the approved budget.
  • Assist in verifying the availability of funds and ensure that operational expenditures are in accordance with approved budgets and that all committing documents are complete and consistent.
  • Maintain liaison with local banks and financial institutions to keep up to date with financial and regulatory information (communication, maintenance of bank accounts, process & procedures for any changes, etc.)
  • Assist in managing and maintaining the petty cash for the project account (review voucher Assist to provide support on monitoring the operational cash advances and ensuring that OCAs are settled in due time.
  • Assist in performing regular follow-up and monitoring the accounting payable/receivable.
  • Maintain proper filing of all financial documentation (Vouchers, contracts, tender documents, etc.)
  • Assist with daily cash box counting and make denomination reports.
  • Assist in ensuring bank administration, bank reconciliations, and cash reconciliations.
  • Assist in providing support to the payment team during volunteer stipends.
  • Create VAT and tax challan and ensure deposit to the Govt. treasury as well as ensure VAT and tax return.
  • Assist in providing support during the project year closeout, financial year-end, financial report preparation, audit preparation, and ensure implementation of the donor recommendations and audit findings, etc.
  • Arrange and make meeting minutes for inter-departmental meetings.
  • Follows a given work plan.
  • Knowledge and any idea sharing with the team to develop capacity from the aspect of finance.
  • Perform any other responsibilities as required in the unit or assigned by the management or line manager.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting, Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Financial Accounting, Finance
  • Skills Required: VAT and Tax, Communication

Experience Requirements

  • At least 2 year(s)
  • The applicants should have experience in the following area(s):
  • INGO
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):
  • NGO

Additional Requirements

  • At least two (2) years of experience in a Rohingya Context or emergency response, NGO.
  • Good experience with UN-funded projects or INGO contexts will be an advantage.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and teamwork.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision, plan & prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Good skills in Multitasking Flexibility, adaptability, result-oriented, and problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in the use of spreadsheets, word processing, and computerized accounting systems.
  • Proven commitment to accountability practices.
  • Experience administrative tasks, including filling systems.
